Very cool. A Pablo Picasso exhibition will open at The MET on my birthday, November 10. I’m sooo going to this show. It’s not very often that big names like Picasso are put on exhibit in Manila so I’ll definitely take advantage of this opportunity.
And these works are cool. I used to have a book on the Vollard Suite when I was in art college. This suite is all about mythology and minotaurs. It done when Picasso was at his prime (mid-1930’s) and inspired by the Surrealists (the minotaur would soon appear afterwards in his historic, “Guernica”). It’s TOTALLY one of his most amazing and important series.
I also remember that way back when I was in college, The MET was FREE. Well, pretty much free. It was on a donate-what-you-can basis. I usually paid Php20.00 and I got a free pin with it.
I think they have a nominal entrance fee now. Not sure how much it costs but I’m sure it’ll be worth it. Flying to New York City to see Picasso works in the Museum of Modern Art would be way more expensive. Way more.
The Metropolitan Museum of Manila is located inside the Bangko Sentral compound on Roxas Boulevard. It’s a little bit down from the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
The Civil Wars - Poison and wine from their Barton Hollows album.
First heard and seen at SYTYCD season 8, the dance connected well with the song… literally….
